This year, 2026, there were some special elements associated with our commemorative meal for the 13th. Together with the impact of the evening and all which led up to it, there were two key events: something which came to be during the evening itself, and something which came afterwards, the next day.
The first was that I saw, actually saw, that such reverential devotion and loyalty to the Adies as I have, is part of a much larger reality: the fact of some kind of being-change. I make no claims for the extent of that change. Perhaps it is miniscule. So be it. But I would say that there has been some change, and my reverence for my teachers limits the egotism which has been such a factor in my time on earth. That reverence and loyalty connects the essential I with higher levels and wider horizons. I am not speaking in absolutes. It is not that this loyalty is total and continuous; neither is the same true of any freedom from egotism I may enjoy.
The second matter is that the fruit, the results of the period leading up to the 13th, only fell into my lap, so to speak, the day after, i.e. on the 14th. A certain period of digestion and assimilation was needed. Of course there had been these during that period, but still, a certain quiet was needed for them to further proceed. Perhaps it is like eating; as we eat we do digest and assimilate but more time is needed for these processes to fulfil more of their potential.
I am tired – it was a huge effort, but even the fatigue is more balanced that I have been accustomed to experience. Often, silly elements in me get loose. That happened for one moment on the afternoon of the 13th, I saw it, and I took measures. Since then, much better.
But I say this because I think laws are exemplified here. If this can come to me in my old age, what might not come to others?
Postscript: On 19 January 2026, I realised why the idea that “I was not there,” has been of limited help to me. I have realised that it is true: compared to “I” or even a good representative of it, I truly was not there. But at the same time, it would be a lie to pretend that no elements of me were there. The true state of the situation was that some of me was there, but enough; there was awareness in parts of centres, but insufficient to link with one another so that more than one centre was coordinated. And that in turn opens the door for me to see what was missing.
